Patricia Barker

Patricia Barker is a parapsychologist who collaborated with Charles Honorton and Rick E. Berger on ganzfeld research at the Psychophysical Research Laboratories (PRL) in the 1980s.

Research contributions

Barker co-authored work on two main lines of investigation:

Ganzfeld and initial psi performance. Barker was a co-author on the 1986 study “First-timers: An exploration of factors affecting initial psi ganzfeld performance,” published in Research in Parapsychology 1985 [1]. This work, conducted with Honorton, Berger, Mario Varvoglis, and Ephraim Schechter at PRL, examined what factors influence psi-ganzfeld performance in participants encountering the task for the first time.

Target properties and affect. Barker also contributed to an exploratory ganzfeld study published in 1982 in Research in Parapsychology 1981, co-authored with Nancy Sondow and Lendell Braud [2]. That work investigated the relationship between target qualities and measures of unconscious affect in a GESP (general extrasensory perception) ganzfeld protocol.
